Connections

  • Utility Jack: Can be used to operate as a programmable switch output or Analog tap tempo output
  • Ctrl Jack: Expression input/external 3 additional switch inputs. 
  • ⅛ Midi in jack:  MIDI input for the futurist.
  • ⅛ Midi Out jack: MIDI output for the futurist.
  • 5 pin midi jack: (defaults as a midi output jack, adjust internally to be a midi input jack)
  • Micro Usb jack: (only use with usb compliant sources) Capable of powering via USB
  • Dc 9v jack: 100ma Centre Negative power supply

 


 

Edit your patch specific Expression settings

  • Press Sw1 + Sw4 to enter the Main Menu. 
  • Choose “Patch Messages”. 
  • Choose “Settings Expression”
  • (if your device is set for a external switch it wont let you edit these settings, go to global settings to change the settings for the CTRL jack for expression)
  • Choose the midi channel for your expression control
  • Choose the #cc you want to control 

Your settings will be saved automatically and you will be returned to the “Patch Messages” menu.

 


 

Edit your patch specific Midi Clock settings

  • Press Sw1 + Sw4 to enter the Main Menu. 
  • Choose “Patch Messages”. 
  • Select “Settings Midi Clock”
  • Choose to turn the PMC (Patch Midi Clock) Settings Off/On (if off is chosen it will return you to the “Patch Messages” menu).
  • Choose if you want to turn the MIDI Clock On/Off on press.
  • If off is chosen it will return you to the “Patch Messages” menu, if On is chosen you will be asked to choose a BPM.
  • Your choices will be saved and you will be returned to the “Patch Messages” menu.

 


 

Edit your patch specific Utility settings

  • Press Sw1 + Sw4 to enter the Main Menu. 
  • Choose “Patch Messages”. 
  • Select “Settings Utility Jack”
  • Choose to turn the Utility Settings Off/Onif off is chosen it will return you to the “Patch Messages” menu).
  • Choose what Output Type you want the Utility Jack to trigger when the preset is selected
  • Switch Change
    • Choose if you want to trigger the Tip, Ring or both
    • Choose whether you want to trigger it On/OFF
    • Polarity and type of switch change (momentary/Latching) is controlled in global
  • Tap Pulse
    • Choose the BPM you want to output from the utility jack when the preset is selected.

 

 

How to save a patch

  • Press Sw1 + Sw4 to enter the Main Menu. 
  • Choose “Patch Messages”. 
  • Choose the midi message you want to edit (1-16) or edit the patches expression, midi clock or tap settings. 
  • Once you have selected your midi message you want to edit choose the type of message you want to send. PC, CC, Note On, Note Off, Custom midi message or you can scroll through your saved custom messages for quick recall. 

(If Custom midi message isn’t chosen). 

  • Choose the midi channel you want to send it on
  • Edit your first variable 
  • (if applicable) Edit your 2nd variable
  • Once you have reached the end it will automatically save your message you edited and you’re ready to use that patch. 
  • It will ask you if you want to save the message to a custom message slot.

(If Custom Midi Message was chosen)

  • Set your command message in Decimal (if your used to hex i recommend using a hex to decimal converter to make things easier)
  • Set mssg1 in decimal
  • If needed set mssg2 in decimal
  • Message is automatically saved and ready for use

 


 


 

 

Menu’s

 

Patch Messages

The “Patch Messages” menu lets program all 16 MIDI messages as well as Patch specific Expression, Utility Jack and MIDI Clock settings for the patch you have selected at the time of entering the menu.

Name

The “Name” menu allows you to edit the name of your presets. To change the displayed name of your preset start by

      • choosing the patch you want to name.
      • press sw1 + sw4 to enter the main menu
      • Scroll to the “Name” option. It will display the current name
      • Use Sw1 (left)  and Sw3 (right) to move to the letter you want to edit. 
      • Sw4 will let you select it
      • Use Sw1 (left)  and Sw3 (right) to scroll to the letter you want.
      •  Sw4 will let you select it or Sw2 will take you back a menu step
      • Edit the name until you’re happy with it and then scroll to “Save” to save the name. The patch should now show that name on the home screen

      Copy

The “Copy” menu lets you copy the selected preset into another presets slot. To copy a patch start by:

      • Choosing the patch you want to copy. 
      • Press sw1 + sw4 to enter the main menu
      • Scroll to the “Copy” option
      • Choose the bank of where you want to save the preset, then choose which preset of that bank you want to save to (these are also the switch numbers 1-7)
      • It will then be saved to that location and be ready to be used!

      Clear

The “Clear” menu lets you wipe clear all messages and settings of the selected preset. To wipe the whole device see “Factory Reset”. To delete all messages and patch settings start by:

      • Choosing the patch you want to clear
      • Press Sw1 + Sw4 to enter the main menu
      • Scroll to the “Clear” option
      • It will verify that you want to clear the patch. No will return you to the main menu, Yes will delete all messages and patch settings for that specific patch.

      Global Options

The “Global Options” menu holds all other settings and menu’s for the “Futurist”. If you want to edit your pedals global settings start by

    • Pressing Sw1 + Sw4 to enter the main menu
    • Scroll to the “Global” option
    • Choose one of the following Globals
      • Switch functions
        • Preset

        Choose the Preset option to set the selected footswitch as a normal preset switch. Everytime it is pressed the pedal will send that patches programmed messages and settings

        • Bank up
              • Choose bank up to set the selected footswitch as a bank up switch. Everytime it is pressed the pedal will bank up instead of having to press Sw2 + Sw4.
        • Bank down
            • Choose bank Down to set the selected footswitch as a bank Down switch. Everytime it is pressed the pedal will bank Down instead of having to press Sw1 + Sw3.
        • Preset up
            • Scrolls through all presets in the current bank ascending.
        • Preset down
          • Scrolls through all presets in the current bank Descending
        • Tap
          • Choose the Tap option to set the selected footswitch as a Tap tempo switch. Everytime it is pressed the pedal will adjust the global bpm based on your taps 
        • Turn On/Off
              • Set whether the global MIDI clock is off or on
        • BPM
            • Set the global BPM for the futurist
        • Screen Settings

        Use Sw1 and Sw3 to scroll through the following two options.

        • Contrast
          • Will let you adjust the contrast of your screen on a scale of 1-10 and automatically saves your selection
        • Brightness
          • Will let you adjust the Brightness of your screen on a scale of 1-10 and automatically saves your selection
        • CTl Jack Sett… (Control Jack Settings)
        • Mode
              • Choose between this jack being an Expression input or a external switch
            • Calibrate Exp:Choose this option to calibrate your expression pedal to the futurist..
              • The 4 leds will start blinking
              •  With your expression pedal plugged in, roll it to its highest position and then to its lowest position.
              • Press Sw4 to save those settings and your expression pedal is now calibrated 
        • Util Jack Sett.. (Utility Jack Settings)
        • Polarity
              • This sets the polarity for the utility jack.Choose between Normally Closed and Normally Open.
        • Mode
              • This only applies to when the utility jack is being used as a switch trigger in the Preset settings. Choose between momentary and latching. 
        • Factory Reset
          Option for resetting device to factory values

 


 

Switch Functions

  • When in a menu:
    • Sw1  : Left 
    • Sw2  : Back 
    • Sw3  : Right 
    • Sw4  : Select 
  • When on the Home page
  • Main Functions – Each switch can be programmed to be:
    • Preset
    • Bank up
    • Bank down
    • Preset up (scrolls through the presets in the current selected bank ascending)
    • Preset down (scrolls through the presets in the current selected bank descending)
    • Tap switch (controls either the midi clock or the MIDI clock + Utility Jack)
  • Alt Functions:
    • Sw1 + Sw4 : Main menu 
    • Hold Sw1 :  Bank  Down
    • Hold Sw3 : Bank Up
    •  

 


Update Firmware

You can update the firmware for your device by plugging it into your Mac/PC and opening our “Editor”. Navigate to the “Global Settings” tab and choose “Update Firmware”. This will allow you to update your device by either using a file on your computer (Update From File) or pulling the most up to date firmware version directly from the internet (Update from Web). Either version will display patch notes and what updates/fixes the update achieves, If available. “Installed Firmware” tells you the current firmware on the device that is plugged in and “File Firmware” tells you the firmware version the device will be updated to.
